The value of the global mobile marketing industry has been estimated at $5.3 billion (£3.3 billion) and growing, it has been reported.
Global arms of the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) have joined together to compile data on this rapidly expanding sector.
This is the first time digital advertising trade bodies have collaborated on mobile marketing data, meaning the study offers important insight into this particular market.
Based upon the IAB findings, Asia-Pacific is the largest region for mobile advertising with a 35.9 per cent share of the sector.
But North America is not far behind, with a share of 31.4 per cent, emphasising the popularity of mobile ads among businesses in the US and Canada.
